Story107

Fields and farms galore. No housing estates. Time spent on the farm, playing in the barn on the bales, watching the milkman milking the cows and then going out on the milk round float delivering milk. Summer days on the shore, learning to swim in the sea, playing in the sand dunes – brilliant! Fishing in the ditches and catching Jack sharps and tiddlers. Climbing the trees and in the winter sliding on the frozen ice of the swamp (now a big housing estate). We had the biggest and best flower and agricultural show in the country immediately after the war – huge marquees of everything – horse jumping, all the local farmers competing.
